A Bungalow in Berkley, Painted Just the Way They Remembered It

This adorable bungalow in Berkley, Michigan, was recently sold, but its owners wanted to remember it the way they knew it—not necessarily the way it happened to look in one particular photograph.
They gave me the details that mattered: their favorite orange, yellow, white and purple flowers, where everything belonged in the garden, and even a particular tree that peeked out from behind the house. So I combined those details to create the view they could actually take with them into their new home.
At just 5×7 inches, there wasn’t exactly a ton of space. I spent hours working under my magnifying lamp with my teeny paintbrushes to paint all those tiny flowers, garden details and trees, making sure everything had its place.
This house portrait may be 5×7, but my eyes would like you to know that they put in a ton of overtime.
