A Few of My Favorite Art Things

I have always been obsessed with art supplies. As a child, whenever anyone took me to the art store, I would stand in the pen aisle trying every single one until I made up my mind about which to buy next.
Decades later not much has changed. Except now that I work full-time as a professional artist, I can justify trying new art supplies--it's for my job! Perhaps this love of art tools is also part of the reason why I choose to work as a traditional (not digital) artist.

Locally, you can find me browsing the aisles of Blick Art Materials. The store places little notepads in front of the pen displays so you can try them out. And so whether or not pens are on my shopping list, I always make time for a quick doodle.
When I travel, I try to remember to search for art supply stores nearby so I can browse their unique selections. There's always a chance of stumbling upon some sort of innovative implement I've never seen before. I especially love a museum gift shop filled with art merch. So many choices, I can never make up my mind, but I almost always collect at least one pad and pen wherever I visit.
Nowadays I order lots online because with 3 kids it's not always easy to get to the art store. I've even created an Amazon Storefront to showcase my favorites. (I earn commissions for any items bought through my link.)
There are far too many art supplies to feature here in one post, but through my blog, I plan to share a bit of my artistic process and in turn, the tools I use and recommend. Hopefully you'll find some artistic inspiration and new favorite tools of your own!
