I may never know the full story behind this painting commission, but here's what I do know and you decide what really happened. Either way, what an adorable heirloom portrait I got to paint for a family here in metro Detroit!

It all started in early spring when a local mom found me on Facebook and sent me a message through my Etsy shop. She had snapped a cute photo of her kids and showed it to her rabbi, who suggested it would make a spectacular watercolor painting. She was interested in having me create it and so I quoted a price.... but I never heard from her again.

Several weeks later, a local dad commissioned a Mother's Day portrait painting for his wife. He sent me a reference photo and I immediately felt all the déjà vu feels! It was the exact same photo the local mom had sent me weeks earlier!

Did the wife tell her husband about my work?

Was this a surprise gift or did she know?

Or did he coincidentally find my art on his own?

Maybe it was some sort of divine intervention prompted by the rabbi?

I have so many questions! I don't want to pry so I'll probably never get the answers. But I still can't help but wonder...
