While I don't know the story behind the photo I was given as a reference for this watercolor painting, I do know it was commissioned by a local client as a birthday gift. To me, the outfits resemble something out of a Renaissance Festival, which tracks as it's quite a popular annual event here in Michigan (although I'll admit I've never been). No matter the true story, I paint what I see, and what a joyful challenge these two were to bring to life in watercolor!
