When I first saw the gorgeous reference photo for this landscape commission, it immediately reminded me of Monet's garden paintings—the Impressionistic arrangement of flowers, the vibrant color palette, the light and shadow. However this particular landscape isn't located in Giverny or Paris, in fact, it's not in France at all!
I had never heard of Bluebell Woods (in Leighton Buzzard, England), so out of curiosity, I did a little Googling. Apparently half the world's bluebells are found in the UK and this particular 13-acrea area is considered an ancient woodland, dating back to 1602. It's popular with visitors and hikers, especially during April/May when the bluebells are in full bloom.
"The painting is stunning!! Perfect (actually better!) than the photo I sent in. Jenny was super responsive, delivered well ahead of schedule (and I was on a tight timeline). The packaging of the painting was great, no chance of damage there. All around wonderful and I'm excited to use her again. Thank you Jenny!" —Laura
I was commissioned to paint this watercolor landscape for a bride-to-be who was in a bit of a time crunch. She needed the painting to deliver before her wedding day so she could gift to her dear friend, who was also going to be her wedding officiant. No pressure!
As Monet famously said, "The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration." The woodland bluebells certainly are inspiring.
