July 4th Sunset at Walnut Lake, an Acrylic Painting

Fourth of July here on Walnut Lake mostly consists of standing around asking if it’s time for fireworks yet. It's a lot of waiting. Waiting for it to get dark enough, waiting for fireworks to start, waiting for the kids to stop asking how much longer it’s going to be.

Last year, while all of that was happening, my kids noticed the sunset and told me I should take a picture and paint it. I said I would, like you do, and then finally did… about a year later. It also turned into my excuse to start working in acrylics again after not really using them much since art school.
