NEW! Custom Hand-Painted Tote Bags: Wearable Art Made Just for You

I’ll admit it: I didn’t expect to get this attached to a tote bag. But then again, this wasn’t just any tote bag.

I created this custom hand-painted tote bag for my younger sister and her daughters, who travel "up north" to visit Camp Michigania every summer. Since we both graduated from the University of Michigan, the camp has always been a meaningful place, and I wanted to paint something that captured the feeling of summer trips there—not just a logo on a bag, but a little piece of the place itself.

The front of the tote features the iconic Camp Michigania wood sign, instantly recognizable to alumni and anyone who has spent time there. On the back, I painted an Adirondack chair overlooking Walloon Lake. My sister was so surprised when she saw it because it was the exact view she loves on the lake—which was a pretty great confirmation that I captured the scene accurately.

That’s what makes custom hand-painted totes so fun. They aren’t just accessories; they’re wearable artwork built around the places, memories, and passions that matter most to you. I individually design and paint each tote by hand with acrylic and ink on the cotton canvas bag, making it a functional piece you can use every day.

Artwork can be painted on the front pocket, across the main panel, along the sides, on the back or in a combination of areas. You can choose from several different strap colors and include meaningful details like monograms, dates or other special touches so the finished piece feels uniquely yours.

Once my sister started showing it off at camp, the “Where did you get that?!” questions started rolling in. So what began as my fun experiment with acrylic paint has officially turned into a full-blown product launch!
